A unique city in North America, Montreal is the second largest primarily French speaking city in the world after Paris; this city is well-known for its cultural life, fine dining, its various festivals, and unparalleled nightlife. Furthermore, this city is the home to Cirque du Soleil and the International Jazz Festival. This city shares many cultural characteristics with the rest of the continent. It has produced many world class talents in the fields of visual arts, dance, music and theatre. By the confluence of the French and the English traditions, the City was developed in the framework of a unique and distinguished cultural identity.
For the photographer, travelling appears to never end; it seems always to be the beginning of a new adventure. A new city evolves setting the stage for a new experience. Upon my arrival to Montreal, the quasi non-existent nightlife of Montréal encouraged me to start a project, which I so-called Montreal’s nightlife in it capturing how light reflects different inspiration on the dark background of the night. This opportunity provides me with a chance to hunt the elusive moment of darkness. Transient light appears for a moment and disappears in the darkness of the night.
Undoubtedly, we live in the moment; everything is in flow; nothing stands still. For sure, neither I nor anyone else can depict again the intoxicated guy with the hand on his head carrying the scheme of Jesus with his hand on the heart. Maybe there is a long way between rational and emotional. It has been worth keeping my eyes open and my body deprived of sweet sleep to wait long to capture these elusive moments of night!
